My Creative Sketches Tutorial-Colorwash

Hello!  I just love my monthly kits from My Creative Scrapbook!  Each kit is packed with so many fun papers and embellishments.  This month I had the privilege of working with the Limited Edition Kit....absolutely stuffed with flowers, diecuts, chipboard, wood pieces and more!  I decided to take my dimensional layering one step further and play around with a soft colorwash background.  A bit out of my comfort zone, but that's how we learn!  I love how it turned out!
 Let's get started!
We've all heard about using different mediums for watercolor backgrounds and we all love mists.  I couldn't help but wonder....what happens when I paint my background with my mist?!  LOVE...a new addiction, that's what!

I chose this awesome graph paper from the collection.

this is the assortment of stain and mists I used ,and my paint brush
As you can see, I used a variety of companies.  They all seemed to work out the same.
For the stain, I created a puddle onto my craft sheet, the rest I dipped my brush directly into the bottle!
The colors were all so light that I didn't even use water, with one exception, the Maya Road Mists.  The Maya Road is a darker concentrated Turquoise so I did use a bit of water to tone it down and give it more of a watery effect.

I loved the watercolor effect of the mists!  When I started adding the darker turquoise I started wondering what I had done! I'm great a hitting the panic button and fearing that I just ruined my paper... Not liking it so much anymore!  BUT, don't freak out when it's not what you had in mind... that it the great thing about scrapbooking, layering, and embellishments...you can always find a way to cover  fix  those things you don't want to see!
Here she is all done!
Now I really like the turquoise streaks!  They look completely different and actually blend the perfect hint of color with the softness of the layout!
Closeups!
lot of diecuts, chipboard, fussycutting, and flowers!
 Aren't the flowers gorgeous?!

My Creative Sketches Reveal!

Hello!  It's time for the April reveal at My Creative Sketches!  I had the pleasure of working with the Limited Edition featuring Crate Paper's  adorable O' Darling collection! Pam has this kit overflowing with diecuts, chipboard, alpha's, wood pieces, flowers, as well as ribbon, papers, and more! Seriously, this kit is STUFFED with all kinds of goodies!
Look at this assortment of goodies!
Love these flowers!  The wood pieces are so fun to work with!  I covered mine with some mist for a hint of color, the topped with a layer of stickles for a bit of girly shimmer.
Combination of stickers, chipboard, diecuts, and paper make layering fun and easy!
Notice the sequins and jewels?  Yep, they are in the kit too!
These papers and coordinating embellishments are as adorable as my great niece!  :-)

My Creative Scrapbook - Stamping Ideas!

Hello!  The March Limited Edition Kit has a set of beautiful stamps matching the gorgeous Prima Something Blue collection.  I want to share with you a few fun ways to use your stamps.
For my first example, I  chose " Always" stamp.  I started by using a marker to color only the gorgeous flourish frame around the word only...NOT the word!
I stamped the frame onto the background the paper filling in behind my flowers cluster adding a bit of texture to the cluster.
Here you can see it stamped three times around the flower cluster.

For my second example, I used the canvas banners in the Brads set found in the kit.
I used the both word stamps....This time we will be inking only the words and NOT the outer frames.
The ingenious shape of Ingvild Blooms stamps makes it perfect to color in the word only.
Stamp the word directly onto the banner.
TADA!!
For my third example, I chose a lighter color - Ingvild Bloom's Pastel Pink.
This time I inked the entire stamp and placed it directly onto the photo for a light touch of texture!
A closeup of the stamp on the photo.
Lastly, I used the larger frame stamp in the set.
For this example, I inked only HALF of the fame stamp.   I placed the stamp directly on the background paper.  Once again inking only HALF the fame, I stamped a second time.  As you can see here, I didn't get it exactly lined up but once I add the layers and photo you won't even notice!
Here you can see the banners, photo, and frame!
I would love to see how you use the stamps!
